Another week, another NPD chart detailing the best selling PC games in the USA for the week ending August 11. The dominancle of World of Warcraft and The Sims 2 still continues with no title which could replace the first positions. Let’s wait for a newer chart with Bioshock in stores, it could move the positions a bit.

2. Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword – 2K Games
3. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade – Blizzard
4. The Sims 2 Deluxe – Electronic Arts
5. The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff – Electronic Arts
6. The Sims 2 Seasons – Electronic Arts
7. Nancy Drew: The White Wolf Of Icicle Creek – Her Interactive
8. Age Of Empires III – Microsoft
9. Warcraft III Battle Chest – Blizzard
10. Battlefield 2 – Electronic Arts

Anyone that has a bit of knowledge of the internet download games .. I know I stopped buying games once I found out how to download them and play.

If I had a time machine, I would go back to the past, and kill whoever brought the idea of WoW .. terrible game, waste of life, waste of money. I never played it, nor will I ever want to play stupid RPG games in general.

I feel that some of what you say is right John. I too think it’s sad that so many kids waste their youth locked up in a room playing WOW instead of living their lives. I played a lot of D2 when I was younger and I regret that I wasted so much time on a game. On the other hand I don’t think gaming is bad. It gives you some fun and unique experiences where you experience friendship with people you will never actually see. I just think parents or one self should hold some limits. Lets say for example max 2 hours in front of the PC a day. I know a lot of young people just waste their lives watching TV as well but I do believe that the really popular games like WOW is more addictive than TV-watching.

cant believe ppl still play the sim’s, come on people this isnt the 90′s anymore. I remember when I played the demo of the first sim’s game that came on a maxis cd for my first PC which was a compaq. I t was fun to detroy the builds with earthquakes, floods, fire’s etc. I remember letting houses burn while playing offspring pyro song :D . Play other games ppl, the sims were good once but its not anymore, its played out its boring its lame, get a life, you virtual world losers.

I’m sure Bioshock will make a small bump on the list when it’s released, just like C&C and STALKER did too – but the games listed here(except maybe Nancy Drew?) are consistent sellers even years after their release. To me, it’s a sad testimony to how console ports have ruined the PC gaming market, so that only crap like WOW and SIM’s dominate sales instead of the once epic PC only games that could never have been ported to consoles due to their complexity. Now we’re “happy” to get a game, tear through it in a week or two, and then drop it because in the end, the content and controls were limited to what they could turn around and shove into a console, not a PC. The only exception to that I can think of in recent memory is the Jedi Knight and GTA series.

I like how The Sims is still ruling the sales charts. Way to go EA. :P I doubt Spore will get this much attention as it’s more sci-fi and thus it’s considered to be more geeky… Oh well. Can’t wait for Sims 3. :P And 4, and 5 and 6.. I can’t wait for The Sims XVII with the exact same gameplay as The Sims 1 but with MORE clothes and furniture and stuff. It’s gonna be AWESOME.

John what should I do when I come home from work then?
Instead of playing World of Warcraft, should I go out with my cooworkers and get wasted at our local bar?
Should I go to the movies with them? Should I go out with supper with them? What should I do?

All the possible things I could be doing other then WoW, are exactly the same, except will either cost me more money and/or do more damage to my body.
A hobby is a hobby, you do it on your free time, some people have more free time then others and so they will do it more, anyway you look at it, WoW is a SAFE, CHEAP hobby, I don’t see why (as long as you enjoy it obviously) its a waste of time to play it.

Only one good game in the lot(bf2). For real, kids, women and faggots shouldn’t be allowed to buy games

“Starting immediately, we will be upping the activation count to a 5 by 5 plan. We will be raising the maximum amount of computers a user can have BioShock installed on simultaneously from 2 to 5, and allowing a user to reinstall BioShock on each of those computers from 3 times to 5 times.”

@4,5,12 – u guys say shit about a game that u never played or know nothing about, just because a game has to be payed for in your eyes it sucks. as for its complexity #12, believe me its 1 of the most complex game u can play and comes from 1 of the best line of games ever made ‘Warcraft’
So guys don’t knock something until u have tried it, otherwise keep your comments to yourself, their useless to any1 else who want real info.
