NewsMan Pro v2.7.0.9 RETAIL-TE

For all of you who prefer newsgroups and NZB files, TE group has released retail edition of NewsMan Pro – usenet newsreader and binary grabber.

Description:

Top-rated interface with full support for text AND binary newsgroups. Designed not only to be good-looking, but also to make browsing and downloading from Usenet easy and enjoyable. Comes with eight different Themes and is also designed to work well with third-party skinning programs like StyleXP and Windowblinds.

If you’ve used Agent or Dialog, you’ll feel right at home with Newsman Pro. Read text newsgroups effortlessly and store articles as long as you want in the database for fast search and retrieval. Newsman also fully supports binary newsgroups and decodes Mime, UUE and yEnc encoded messages in a separate background thread to minimize CPU usage. The yEnc decoder used by Newsman is directly from yEnc.org and is extremely fast and well optimized. B-News articles are recognized by Newsman and attached *.bn files are saved ready to decode with your favorite Bommanews decoder. Incomplete articles are also fully supported and it is easy to see messages that have received new segments that can be downloaded and added to already retrieved segments.

NZB files save you time by allowing you to download binaries without retrieving headers. Newsman Pro gives you full support for NZB files by allowing you to import multiple files at once within the program. NZB messages are placed into a separate virtual group. You can also associate NZB files with Newsman Pro and Newsman will import them when you open the files in Windows© Explorer. Newsman Pro can also monitor a directory of your choosing in order to automatically import and process incoming NZB files. Lastly, Newsman supports exporting of headers to an NZB file so you can create your own files to share with others.

    so will the first two IPs that posted ’1st’ and ’2nd’ be getting banned?

    do many use newsgroups here these days? personally I prefer rapidshare by quite a distance, commonly you’re confirmed great speeds (this all providing you have an account) and knowing the right sources you can get pretty much anything these days.

    You have to pay Eur 54 for rapidshare for a years subscription. Rapidshare is very fast. I always used torrents before (still do for old stuff) but Rapidshare is just soooo much easier and faster than torrents. Its so worth the money imo

    @5

    It is great, because stuff on rapidshare can easily get deleted, or a download may become corrupt. Also the speeds are guranteed on there as well. In fact they’re dedicated server farms, as with rapidshare. I’ve been using it for quite a while, it has served me well :D

    BTW: I use NewsBinPro, should I try this?

    July 25th, 2008 | 01:03

    ok I used to use torrents a lot and one day i stumbled upon a fantastic app called alt.binz its free and if as with me you are on virgin media they provide a binary news server included in your broadband account so this means that with alt.binz and virgins news server I can download from newsgroups completely free of charge. it is as fast as your bandwidth allows the vigin news server is “news.virginmedia.com” it can handle 32 connections and the only drawback is it only has a retention period of about a week. so for older things that I cant get I use a private torrent site where most of the people on there have seedboxes. so the speeds are about the same.NZB files rule.

    “do many use newsgroups here these days? personally I prefer rapidshare by quite a distance, commonly you’re confirmed great speeds (this all providing you have an account) and knowing the right sources you can get pretty much anything these days.”

    I use newsgroups daily and almost never use Rapidshare. Besides the fact that I hate the way Rapidshare LIES to free users, trying to make them think that all the annoyances they have to put up with are technical limitation rather than company choices, there are several advantages to newsgroups.

    Using free search sites, you can search all the groups and generate NZB files for what you want. With Rapidshare you have to hope that someone posts a link to what you want. Although there are some RS search sites, they never seem to be able to find what I search for, even if I KNOW that it’s on there. You can also post requests to a newsgroup and it will be seen by everyone who follows that group (but not by strictly NZB downloaders). If something doesn’t work, you can request help or even ask the uploader directly.

    “sorry for my ignorance im not a noob per say, not on torrents and most software anyway but what is rappidshare exactly? I read alot of stuff just on comments from this site but im as confused as hell.Is it free and how fast is it any help much appreciated thx”

    Rapidshare, as well as MegaShares, MegaUpload, etc are file hosting sites. Users can upload files to them, post the URLs and then others can download those files. Uploading and downloading are free, BUT they impose a lot of restrictions to try and annoy users into paying for an account. The following applies to Rapidshare, but others have similar restrictions;

    When free users upload, the file is deleted 90 days after the last download (theoretically you could keep it online forever by downloading it again and again). Paid users’ uploads are never deleted (as long as the account is paid). For free downloaders, there is a wait time based on the size of the file of up to 2 minutes. If the download aborts before the file is finished (a common occurance for me), there’s no way to resume the download, you have to start over from scratch. After you download a file, there’s a wait time based on the size of the file before you can download again. For a 100MB file (the largest that RS allows), you have to wait 200 minutes, or 3 hours and 20 minutes. You’re also limited to only one download at a time. Finally, RS recently imposed a 50K/s speed limit for free users.

    Frankly, out of the various hosting sites, RS is the worst! Other sites allow larger files, smaller wait times and better speeds. One (I forget which) even allow resuming downloads.

    “What usenet servers does everyone use? Is something usually provided by your ISP?”

    Sometimes. Years ago, before high-speed internet accounts became common, the volume of stuff posted to Usenet was such that it was relatively easy to run a good server. Then people started posting tons of music, movies, etc and the volume of posts shot through the roof. Today, there’s something like 4 Terabytes posted ecah and every day. Some ISPs try to run their own servers and fail miserably. Others outsource to companies like Giganews and therefore provide decent newsgroup access.

    Check your ISPs help site to see if they list how to setup Usenet/newsgoups/NNTP. If so, try connecting to it and see how it is. If the ISP runs its own server, you’re likely to see half the files incomplete and the oldest post will probably be less than 24 hours old. If they outsource, you could see posts from months ago and 90% or more will be complete. If they don’t provide good access, you can get a private account. See here for a guide to using newsgroups and a list of the various commercial Usenet providers. I’ve been buying credits with Astarweb myself;

    Thanks for the post, Christian, and thanks to the link providers.
    Like most I’ve tested many readers for form and function. Newsman is really the most powerful (professional) Usenet software I’ve tried. Just be sure to use MySQL for the database. If you’re into scripting then you’ll have one sleek & powerful app.

    Sometimes I hear some people talking about “PreDB”. What is this?
    How can they get ahold of a show before it is on usenet or rapidshare (among others)?
    What is the fastest method of getting realy early releases?
    Thanks

Help using this will be appreciated, I runned out of luck googling for help.

    My choice is to use Usenet SSL protected with Giganews and Rapidshare Premium account both together…
    The Usenet is a great way to download and SEARCH good allover kind of stuff. Rapidshare network is very popular on many web sites/forums/blogs we use, so it is very useful to beable to DL from rapidshare those days.
    Still rapidshare is expensive and I like it less personally.
    As for the topic, I preffer NewsLeecher especially for the SuperSearch. It makes my search time the fastest it can be and it is worth every penny.

    Sry for my English…

    First of all, I assume that you’re a Virgin Media user? If not, it’s not going to let you connect. If you are, you may need to put in your Virgin Media name and password. Note that each server differs and you may need to put in your entire email address as the username. Also, verify the port number. Virtually all news servers default to port 119, but I suppose yours could be different. Also, check and see if it need SSL enabled or maybe it won’t work if it IS enabled.
