    2 gigs of pc3200 ram is needed to play some of the newest games with the least amount of lagging.

    JOTR – extra ram increases your graphics settings choices
    BF2 – 2gig needed to load up maps fast and reduce lagging
    Oblivion – again higher graphics settings (although there is a leak somewhere in the code that sucks up memory after you’ve played it a couple of hours.

    JOTR nowhere needs 2GB. It was also released in 2004.
